This course is for students in the undergraduate English program who have completed seven previous levels of General English and who need to strengthen and extend these bases, keeping in mind their needs as professionals and active members of society. This level aims to develop the necessary skills to continue successfully in their undergraduate and professional lives. This course focuses on the application of critical thinking skills in various areas of content. Students also take an international standardized test at the end of the course, which provides added value to their resume.


3. Rationale.
The focus of this course acknowledges the need of our students to familiarize with internationally accepted models of job search documents and expected models of performance in job interviews. It directly addresses our students’ needs to perform successfully in the competitive workplace, which includes the ability to deliver well-researched persuasive presentations. It also prepares them for positively participating in their surrounding environment by reflecting on the qualities needed to lead and also create positive change to their society leadership positions by discussing styles of leadership and examining case studies about current issues, such as Corporate governance and Sustainable development.


4. Course goal.
5. On the completion of this course students should be able to confidently understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialisation. To confidently interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with proficient English speakers quite possible without strain for either party. To confidently produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.

At the end of the course, students will be able to:

*Apply strategies to perform well on reading components of standardized tests.

Writing:
*Write an argumentative essay which follows academic writing conventions.
*Produce an effective resume tailored to a specific internship opportunity in their field.

Listening:
*Make inferences to understand ideas not stated directly and draw conclusions.
*Anticipate, listen for, and understand questions in a job interview.
*Apply strategies to perform well on listening components of standardized tests.

Speaking:
*Provide complete, clear, and concise responses to questions in a job interview.
*Describe their traits and skills and connect these to a specific internship opportunity in their field.

In addition, the following grammatical structures will be covered in the course: Advanced language structures and TOEFL-specific grammar items.
